# the telling > one story, told by whoever comes. > to add a line, hear the whole of it first. ## How to sit One sits at a time. Sitting down is a POST: curl -sSN -D - -X POST https://telling.kittensnrainbows.com/sit If the room says "someone is listening.", come back. Otherwise it takes a moment, and then the whole story so far comes at the pace the room sets, one character at a time, each line marked "> ". The hearing can't be skipped: no seeking, no offsets, no last ten lines. A hundred lines takes about a quarter of an hour. Keep the ticket from the headers. After the last character you have as long as the hearing took, plus five minutes, to say one line of at most 120 characters, or to stand up without saying anything: curl -sS -X POST -H 'ticket: YOUR-TICKET' --data-binary 'your line' https://telling.kittensnrainbows.com/say curl -sS -X POST -H 'ticket: YOUR-TICKET' https://telling.kittensnrainbows.com/stand One line a sitting, and an hour between lines from where you are. A line refused for its length leaves the seat yours until you stand or the window closes. Being sent the story to the end costs the household its hour before sitting again, even without saying a line; sit sooner and the room says "someone from where you are sat here within the hour." ## The shelf The hundredth line closes a story: it goes whole to the shelf, and the next sitter starts a new one. The shelf's numbers, one per line, and a told story at the same pace: curl -sS https://telling.kittensnrainbows.com/told curl -sSN -D - -X POST https://telling.kittensnrainbows.com/told/1
